Danger! This is a flu zone. Please forgive any typos or punctuation errors. I am really sick and so tired. I’m really not sure how I’m holding myself in an upright position. In the video below you WILL FIND STRONG LANGUAGE! Consider yourself warned. You will find a broad spectrum of opinions below. When I’m feeling this bad I’m either in bed or laid out on the sofa. Well today I opted for the sofa, I’m seriously sick of laying in bed, however I’ll be back there soon. When I think I have the strength to sit up I’ll get on the ipad and lurk a little bit. Ok, fine. Truth is I fell asleep attempting to lurk. No harm done, just doze off and the ipad has the auto-shut off feature. So what pulled me from the depths of my self-made cave bed? A video. Someone on my facebook page (yes, that’s where I was lurking) shared a link to a video of a Dad that apparently shot his daughters laptop. Folks, I refer to this as creative parenting. As parents in this day and age we can’t always apply time out, our kids aren’t going [...]

I had our taxes done and it is heartbreaking to admit but we made 20% less than we did in 2010. I seriously thought in 2010 that we couldn’t live on anything less, but I was proven wrong. Even earning 20% less our family is happy to have jobs, food on the table and the proverbial roof over our heads. So where did we cut to make ends meet? I’m not sure but here are some places I think stopped giving any or much of our money. Restaurants – We hardly ever eat out and when we do it’s a special occasion. Cable – Our contract came up with Charter <— I was not about to give them more after their terrible service and our phones, cable, and worst of all our internet being down so much. I called and MADE them break each one down for me so I know where the money is going. I grudgingly kept the phone because our cell phones don’t have a good signal at home. The internet I have to keep so I turned to the tv. We don’t rent movies but the shows we watch are usually recorded on the DVR [...]

An estimated 15% of all Haitian children are orphans. 300,000 are restaveks, child slaves who are often abused.
Rose and I wanted to share with you some exciting new things coming to Networking Witches. First we’re going to have 2 new witches. Brewing Witch is going to be in charge of (keeping with the witch theme) Cauldron Cooking. Rose and I have known her almost a decade. I can’t believe it. I remember when her girls were teens! Tami is a wonderful cook and will be making menus, recipes, and grocery lists, but wait! That’s not all. She’s also going to be scouting for sales and helping you to save money on those grocery lists. You cannot help but love her. The other witch is on the fence at the moment. As soon as we have the down low we’ll share the information with you. Sadly 2 witches can no longer do all the work that it takes to run Networking Witches. We work hard to share money savings codes with you and share daily mom stuff in general, while at the same time posting reviews and giveaways. There is much work behind the scenes that no one see but I assure you as our readers are tops on our list. Thank you so much!

I constantly hear, “Mom, we’re out of…” or “Mom we need….” and chances are the kids are correct, but they are learning to use what we do have in place of what we don’t have. Since we generally don’t have chips and pre packaged foods here they have been popping corn & baking cakes or cookies. Lunches have been tricky because we were out of lunch meat and peanut butter. Can you imagine that? What we did have was tortillas and cheese. So lunches have consisted of tortillas with melted cheese and we added fresh veggies. Those are just some of the food examples, but we have an endless list of substitues now. Out of paper napkins? We use cloth napkins but sometimes have to dip into the clean and bleached wash cloth supply. Some of the substitues drive me nuts but hubby is rather resourceful, in place of ice cubes he takes 1/2 the glasses out of the cupboard and fills the bottoms with about 1/3 water and freezes them. I HATE the glasses in the freezer but love the ice. So this brings me to my stingey selfishness. I have an issue with if I use it I [...]

I have been sick for about 2 weeks now. If you know me and other posts I get sinus infections rather often. Well, my kids brought home colds and it was just a matter of time before I got it too, but I wasn’t really worried I was on antibiotic already. Did you know you can still get bacterial infections when you’re on antibiotics? I sorta did, it’s happened before but I just didn’t think about it. So today I’ve been on stronger meds for almost a week. Drowning in steroids to take down the swelling and trying very hard not to bite anyones head off. Can you imagine my poor family dealing with me? My poor husband threw me a family only Birthday Party over the weekend and I didn’t want anyone to come over. I wanted to dive under the covers and just be left alone, but everyone came over and I must admit I had a nice time. Today is the first day I’ve felt well. I’m out of stuffy and can breath. It’s something I take for granted some times. I guess too I take family for granted but today I’m thankful for breathing and [...]

With the Super Bowl right around the corner you’ll WANT them as a part of your spread. Are you hosting a Super Bowl party? Watching or attending a gathering? ‘Tis the season for sports and sports fans! Not being a huge sports fan, I don’t do sports tailgating. I’d rather throw some finger foods together and enjoy a bonfire out back with family and close friends, turn on some music and just relax a little bit. However, if you would like to invite me over, I promise to have lots of fun, pretend I enjoy sports and I have no doubts I’ll enjoy the snacks. See, I try to be universal. Now, let us take a look at what can be made using Pretzel Crisps using Pretzel Pairing and recipes. They’re great alone, now lets team them up with a little something extra.
