Okay my music lovers I have an awesome new DVD & CD set for you. STYX! Yes Styx, The Grand Illusion & Pieces of Eight. This hot new CD & DVD set brings back lots of memories of my wayyyyyy older sisters (they really are way older lol) and playing vinyls with their friends over. When little sisters were mad a good jump on the floor would skip the record.
Eagle Rock Entertainment released Styx: The Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight Live on DVD, Blu-Ray, and DVD/2CD on January 31. This show was recorded on November 9, 2010 at the historic Orpheum Theater in Memphis Tennessee, on the tour that saw them perform both these albums in their entirety for the first time.
This 20 song two hour and 11 minute presentation features stunning high-definition visuals accenting the complex musical arrangements recorded in DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby digital 5.1 and LPCM Stereo. Styx branded themselves one of the greatest American progressive rock bands.
Styx came together in Chicago in 1972 and their current line-up consists of James “J.Y.” Young, Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan, Ricky Phillips and Chuck Panzzo. You don’t want to miss this AWESOME show!
Mr Roboto was one of my favorite songs from that time.
We just saw them live in concert on 2.2.12. They were awesome!!! We had to take our 5yo and 9yo daughters as STYX is Their favorite band! It was fun watching them singing along to the songs that they knew. They both love Mr Roboto but they didn’t play it. Before the concert my 5 yo daughter says Mommy I can’t wait to hear them sing Mr RobotNo……LOL

What I like about Styx is the name Styx
I am a big fan of STYX and the I really love their musicianship as a whole! Great song writing! Great vocals and harmonies! Great guitar work! Great keyboard/synthesizer/piano work! They have it all!

My all time favorite Styx song “Come Sail Away” I think I wore out not one but two vinyls of this song which I still have today lol
Styx was big on the charts when I was a tween and I can remember cranking the boom box on the bus(we had a cool bus driver) to school every day listening to “Lady and “Come Sail Away” with us girls singing our heads off. I would love to own their new DVD Grand Illusion & Pieces of Eight~!

Oh and I also have a sister but she was the older one and she too would jump and skip my vinyl. If my Mother hadn’t come home from work she would still be sitting on the neighbors porch locked out of the house today lol
I was into music she was into soap operas and both the tv and record player was in the same room. See the problem. She got a lot of exercise that summer from me chasing her outdoors around the house and I got a lot of skipped records, my Mother got a lot of headaches!
