08/31/10 Rubik’s Cube and Solving Manual Giveaway

August 15, 2010
By

Can you believe Rubik’s Cube is 30?  When I was young and I’m dating myself here the Rubik’s Cube came out and all tweens (psst! I wasn’t a tween yet) were challenged.   Rubiks Cubes are the perfect traveling companion.  It was perfect to put in your locker and to work on during your down time.

Rubik’s Cube Math Program from YCDTRC on Vimeo.

This great puzzle is fun and entertaining but has other benefits as well.  When working to solve the Rubik’s Cube you get a sense of accomplishment.  In addition, learning to solve the Rubik’s Cube helps teach life lessons such as, following directions, perseverance, memorization and focus.  I myself self would like to add how to deal with aggravation.  It’s addicting and something I would work and work at until I had it solved.

Rubik’s Cube is a game of teaching too.  Holding, twisting, and turning the parts, can help children of all ages grasp important math concepts including area, perimeter, volume, angles, algorithms and enumeration, among many other geometry and algebraic topics.

My husband and I want to do all we can to help our children and if that means making them play games well?  Rock On!
