This is about to absolutely drive me nutty! My laptop key is broken. Very broken. Now missing. Go figure. This has just been an overall shoddy week for my household, and my broken laptop key is like the straw that breaks the camels back.
I gave Best Buy a call, no luck – not even from their Geek Squad. Nadda there folks! I was fully prepared to make the hour and a half, 51 mile drive (one way) to get my enter key fixed or replaced.
How did I know before I placed that call, that it wouldn’t be that easy for me? Oh heck, just call it a vibe. This week all around has been crummy on so many levels.
Mind you my Mom has been in the hospital twice since Wednesday, the 14th. She came home on Thursday, and we had to take her back on Friday … or was it Sunday? I can’t remember. But she finally come home and seems to be doing better as of Tuesday the 20th. My days and nights have literally all just ran one into the other.
My daughter went off to camp for the first time ever on Monday morning, but I was at the hospital with Mom. I was devastated that I couldn’t be here to see her off, and wish her well. I of course left her a note in the middle of the night before I followed Mom’s ambulance on over. But it wasn’t the same. I did call after she woke up, but again … it just wasn’t the same.
She gave her Daddy two hugs before she left, one for him and one for me. I felt her spark when he gave me her hug and kiss, but dang it … it just wasn’t the same. I miss her something horrible!
Often times, when something is bothering me or weighing heavily on me, I’ll turn on the laptop and just let my fingers do the walking, and allow my mind to wander. However, this time it’s not working quite that easy.
My Enter key is broken, gone, completely off the laptop!
My pinky finger keeps landing in the depths of the missing enter key, and is now feeling a bit strange. The gaping hole where my important enter key used to reside is filthy, and since I broke it while trying to clean the keyboard, I keep talking myself out of cleaning the others.
Our very own Winter Witch helped me look on eBay for a replacement key, of which I already emailed the seller, and it should be on it’s merry way soon to fill the gaping hole where my pinky finger has been living.
<Insert Deep Sigh Here>

Sounds dreadful! Try putting a bandaid on your pinky finger where it touches the missing key it will cushion the “hit” for your finger. You could also double up a piece of duct tape and stick it over the spot on the keyboard might help.
