Are you an aspiring photographer? Do you know someone that is? Well here is your chance (or theirs) to make dreams come true. 
The third annual Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest, photographers of all skill level are welcome to enter. The winner will have his/her photo featured in the December issue of National Geographic magazine in ad for Energizer® Ultimate Lithium batteries along with the trip of a lifetime. A National Geographic Expedition for two to the Greek Isles! (accompanied by a National Geographic expert.)
“You don’t have to be an expert or have professional equipment to capture a magnificent shot,” said 20-year National Geographic photographer and contest judge Jim Richardson. “One of last year’s Category Winning photos was shot by a zoo employee on a regular point-and-shoot camera. Great photography is often about being in the right place at the right time and making sure you’re prepared to capture the moment when it happens.”
You can submit your photograph in one of six categories animals/wildlife, nature, travel, people/cultures, weather and action/energy from now through June 30th. When the entry period closes on Richardson will look over all of the entries and select two finalists in each category. From August 17th through September 15th, Americans are asked to visit and review each of the category finalists and vote for their favorite in each category. When the category winners are determined, Richardson will help choose the Grand Prize Winner, of whom will be announced on or around November 4th. (Photos must be submitted online. No print or film submissions will be accepted.) The Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest site isn’t there just to enter. It also offers valuable resources for photo buffs. Check out photos and tips from Richards, and view the gallery of past winners as well as view a weekly gallery that will be update with new entries. You can even join in on a Q&A with Richardson, feel free to ask about everything from his 20 years with National Geographic to questions about gear and equipment. Energizer® Ultimate Lithium batteries offer a storage life of 15 years, are 33% lighter than regular alkaline batteries and perform in temperatures as extreme as -40 to 140 degreeds Farenheit, which make them ideal for photographers that are on the go.

My husband should enter a picture he took at the Grand Canyon. I have a picture I should enter taken last winter after a snow storm on our farm. The sky was gray and everything was covered in snow (trees, pasture, pond frozen), Even though it was a color photograph it came out looking black and white

I’d love to submit a serene b&w closeup of my then 3-month old son. The lighting was perfect, the macro on my camera actually worked that day and all-in-all, I’ve been told it should be blown up large and hung in the living room for all to enjoy (if I may brag..)

Stayed with a family in college and the dad had taken a great picture of a squirrel popping its head up over a log looking right at them. It was even better because the picture was taken back in the film days so he had to try over and over to get a picture of this squirrel. He finally got it just as it popped its head up and it’s a great nature shot, especially because it took him more than 1/2 a roll of film to get it with a non-professional setup.
My friend Paul is an excellent photographer – he’d get an amazing shot!
