Happiness is simple. It’s easy and true.
It’s all around you. If you look close enough you’ll see it in the smallest of things. If you aren’t careful you’ll surely overlook it, and it’s something you don’t want to miss.
I have shared with you all, (our readers) what makes me happy. Like on Mother’s Day Weekend, my husband and I created memories that I will treasure for a lifetime. A phone call from my son just to say “I love you”, my daughter with a simple yet bright grin as she said simply “Happy Mother’s Day Mom”.
A look can cast a shadow of happiness that you can only feel in the depths of your heart.
A note, left by my husband in an odd place. The straw on the cup I’m drinking from. I took this photo last night. See how the smallest of things can bring so much happiness?
I had been writing a post here on the laptop, when I wandered off to do something with/for one of the kids. When I returned to the laptop something caught my eye. The bright pink sticky note stuck to my straw. A smile crossed my face. And I felt that warm fuzzy feeling. You know the one I’m talking about…
Fast forward 15 minutes. Happiness came in the form of forgiveness. I had to admit that it was my fault that a container of toothpaste was flushed down the toilet. Even happier the moment became when we realized that said toothpaste was just out of sight, and easily dislodged from the toilet with a wire clothes hanger. Happiness again overcame me, when hubby didn’t ask me a thousand questions, or remind me that he had been in the toilet in one fashion or another all day. However, I really felt bad horrible. But see, how we both were granted happiness? He discovered he didn’t have to dig up the backyard, and I discovered he really loves me because he didn’t shout, not even once.
Happiness … as a 4 year old.
Does life get any better than this? Can you see the happiness?
It’s pure and simple.
Wheels. Lay’s chips. Cowboy boots. A dog.
A few quick facts.
- More than 70% of all Americans own a digital camera. On average they take 28 photos per month.
- 85% of photos taken are uploaded to computers, and 64% of Americans use a photo-sharing or storage site (Source: Forrester Research, March 2009).
- A 2009 book by Harvard Medical School professor Nicholas Christakis and University of California, San Diego political scientist James Fowler found that within your social network, the happiness of someone with whom you have frequent contact increases the likelihood of your happiness by 15 percent.
- Happy spouses provide an eight percent happiness boost, while, surprisingly, a happy next-door neighbor made you 34 percent more likely to be happy.
- Within social networks, each additional happy friend increases a person’s probability of being happy by about nine percent.
Science has shown that happiness is indeed contagious!
The Lay’s Happiness Exhibit is a digital collage, created from consumer submitted photos (our photos, look for mine there also). The exhibit began March 15th, and through May 31st we can continue to upload and view the collage of photos that all together celebrates a simple happiness in America.
From the photos submitted, there were some selected for commemorative ads in People Magazine. Other photos will be featured on millions of Lay’s potato chip bags sold nationwide (with the photo owners permission of course)! From now until 5/31/2010, our photos will be a submission to appear on a bag of Lay’s!
I dare you, join us and the millions of others on our adventure to share our happiness!
