Miss Trimbles Trapdoor

As a mom it’s hard to find good reading material for your kids.  I try to get my kids to stick to the classics but they of course want to read what is popular.  What is popular however isn’t always on my list of good books for kids.fox_hughes

I recently came across a series called Miss Trimble’s Trapdoor.  These are great books with something to learn academically as well as morally.  These days many kids are shuffled back and forth and many times parents are unable to keep up with their kids reading habits.  Miss Trimble’s Trapdoor is an excellent set of books to get your kids interested in some good reads.Miss Trimble's Trapdoor

The author Lori Jordan-Rice is a former teacher from Dallas Fort Worth, Texas.  Disappointed by the historical illiteracy rate among American children today, Jordan-Rice was determined to provide a resource to help kids learn the fundamental of U.S. history in an exciting and engaging way.

Miss Trimble's TrapdoorFox Carlton Hughes, is the illustrater of the the Miss Trimble’s Trapdoor books.    He has illustrated book for many major authors, including over a dozen books for the Walt Disney Classic Tale series.  He is also the recipient of many awards for children’s stories.

Miss Trimble’s Trapdoor and Lori Jordan-Rice have fun activities on her website to help in learning as well as to help with the reading materials.  My son 7 who has just begun to read loves these books.  Usually he sits in my lap as we read and many times points out the words he knows.  Now he’s starting to put them together and read them to me.  These are great books and have made our reading list!
