David Levine and his wife Melissa of Illinois Nut & Candy are the bar tenders at this small, entrepreneurial, family owned and run brick and mortar retail store and manufacturing facility is in Skokie, IL. They also sell through a fully functioning web site, Raising The Candy Bar . It’s what you’d imagine Willy Wonka would open as a storefront, though this one specializes too, it’s the largest kosher candy store in the midwest, and also strong in the niche chocolate market — gluten-free, organic, vegan, lactose free, dairy free, nut free, sugar free and more. They make all the chocolate on site in two kitchens. The mom and pop owners bought it about five years ago — David was a dot com escapee; Melissa had worked for the former owners part time in high school.
